Information on Soy Isoflavones for bodybuilders

Soy Isoflavones are compounds that are found in many different foods, but mostly those that have soy in them, that affect a wide range of body functions. They are beneficial to health because they are classified as phytoestrogens, which are plant-derived compounds with estrogenic activity. These seem to mimic the female hormone, estrogen, to some extent. They have been used to reduce lipoprotein levels and are seen as a good for bone health and aging. Furthermore, they contains main three molecules: Genistein (about 30-60% of total soy Isoflavones), Daidzein (about 40-60% of total soy Isoflavones), and Glycitein (about 1-13% of total soy Isoflavones). This can be found in our diet as well, such as: black/green soybeans, soy milk, okra, tofu and soy sauce. Soybeans and soy products are basically the richest sources of Isoflavones in our daily diet. Soy Isoflavones consist of high protein content, polyunsaturated fats, fiber, vitamins and minerals.

By having Soy Isoflavones in your diet, it can decrease levels of many cardiovascular diseases. Also, research has shown that this supplement is prone to reduce the fasting blood sugar levels in already diabetic people. Genistein (explained above) may be of use to chronic dermatitis symptoms with daily intake with the recommended dosages. This supplement has been known for its effects to reduce breast cancer as well as prostate cancer. This is also been known to increase bone mineral density (BMD) or slow BMD as women are nearing menopause. However, if you would want to take this supplement for these diseases, you should ask the opinion of your doctor first before.

In terms of bodybuilding, Soy Isoflavones has antioxidant effects, which helps in increased recovery and lowers muscle soreness and inflammation. There are not many Soy Isoflavones supplements in the market as such, because it is a relatively new supplement. However, there are two main and probably the best capsules you could try out. One would be the NOW Soy Isoflavones, 60 Vcaps. This would classify as one of the best ones. There is about 60 mg in each capsule. You would take this supplement one to three times daily to have a desired effect.

Another supplement you could try out would be: Like Extension Soy Isoflavones. In this one, you would have to take only one capsule a day, as each capsule is 54mg. This could probably be the better option, as you would only need one dosage a day instead of three.

Soy Isoflavones could have a positive effect in your diet and your overall health, but do consult a doctor before handling this supplement. I would not recommend this for men, however, as this would increase the estrogen hormone in your body system.
