Whey Protein – What It Actually Does In Your Body

What is Whey Protein?

Milk is made from casein and whey. Once it is turned into curd, the substance left over is called Whey Protein. It contains all 9 amino acids and all that is soluble from milk. All in all, it’s just one form that is used as a supplement for increasing energy levels and bettering performance right before a workout session.

Health Effects

Weight Loss

Whey protein is basically an all in one substance. It aids to a great extent in losing that extra fat. How does it do so? Well, it lowers cholesterol and gets rid of fat mass during restrictive energy and training. However, it maintains and retains weight as required by the body.

Muscle Mass

The protein enables the healthy development of muscle mass as well as preventing the tear of muscles. In case of injury, whey protein also helps to repair skeletal muscle tissue. It increases one’s strength before a hardcore workout session.

Energy Levels

Whey protein boosts up the energy levels for all those strenuous exercises. All in all, it provides our bodies with the sufficient capacity for endurance and fast recovery right after a hectic day at the gym.

Other bodily functions

It prevents hearts diseases especially cardiovascular disease and lowers blood pressure for hypertension patients. It  also helps to reduce weight loss for HIV patients. Definitely a plus!

Some Dangers

Allergies can be very bad and some people may be allergic to milk meaning whey protein is a definite NO! Also, consuming this in crazy amounts might actually lead to some not-too-great side effects. These include stomach pains, cramps, reduced appetite, nausea, headache and fatigue. Too much whey protein intake may also lead to the development of acne. Definitely don’t want that now, do you? Also, a balanced diet is what is important. Not one that is shifting entirely towards protein.
